Increasingly I have found that a lot of peace can be found in the bottom of a cup of coffee.
Since I’ve been away at school, life seems to be go-go-go, one thing after the other, non-stop action and it gets easy to get caught up in everything and lose yourself a little bit in the midst of it all.
Some may argue that that’s just life. Ways of life changes so it’s only fair that the person changes with it. Well, that’s a bunch of bologna as far as I’m concerned. There is no reason for the good parts of you to become something of the past. Innocence shouldn’t have to die as a right of passage into big girl and boy world.
I know a lot of you reading this are probably parents but I know some students are reading this too. So whether or not you wish you could turn back time and change things, know that it’s never too late. And if you’re stuck in a rut or are just drowning in pressure, know that there is always a bench somewhere with fresh, green grass spread out before you and someone is always willing to make you a great cup of joe.
Take a step back today. I say this a lot, but really. Slow down. Spend time with the Lord in thoughts, prayer, scripture, meditation – just sit somewhere and let the people busily going about their day pass you by, if only for a few moments. Enjoy the beautiful fact that you can enjoy a peaceful day in the sun. You will see today with a new perspective, I promise.
